Diego R. Dewar
Diego Dewar practices principally in the business and finance areas, with particular emphasis on international corporate and project finance. Throughout the years he has advised sponsors, project developers, lenders and foreign governments in a wide array cross border transactions, including large infrastructure projects. Also relevant, is his experience in international mergers and the setting up of joint ventures for various projects in Latin America and Asia.
Diego has extensive knowledge of the loan, guarantee and insurance programs offered by the multilateral agencies, including expert credit agencies in the United States. He also participated actively in international tax planning, focusing on finding the most efficient solution, tailoring it to the needs of each particular client. This expertise has allowed him to work developing innovative fiscal structures.
Diego has also participated actively advising European, North American and Latin American businesses in their international expansion plans under the franchise model. In mediation and international arbitration processes, Diego has worked advising foreign investors, in entrusted cases in Latin America and Africa.
Before founding Olalla & Dewar Abogados Diego worked in Spain at Sanchez Pintado & Núñez Abogados, in Argentina at Brons & Salas, SC and in the United States as a Foreign Associate at Schuyler, Roche & Zwirner PC in Chicago, Pillsbury Winthrop, LLP in Washington, DC and as a Legal Consultant at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA – Member of the World Bank Group).
